The taste of Tyrol

A simple dish made with potatoes, meat, and egg

Read on to learn how to cook a typical Tyrolean “Gröstel” in no time. Tasty!

“Gröstel” is a Tyrolean hash, usually prepared to use up leftovers. The recipe for two people includes:

  • 200g of your favourite ham
  • 100g of bacon or beef
  • 1 onion
  • 2 eggs
  • chopped parsley
  • 400g of boiled potatoes
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper

This recipe is incredibly simple and easy to follow:
First of all, cut the ham and beef into small cubes and fry them with the onion in a pan with vegetable fat. Cut the potatoes into slices and add them to the pan. Next, season everything with a pinch of salt, pepper, and caraway seeds and then add the chopped parsley. Now all that’s missing are the beaten eggs. Pour them gently over the mixture and serve the Tyrolean “Gröstel” with a fresh green salad.
